Water is a scarce resource and an indispensable basis for life on earth. Although more than two thirds of the earth’s surface is covered by water, only a very small portion can be used as drinking water or for irrigation. In the wake of climate change, water availability and distribution are becoming increasingly important issues.
On 14 September 2022, IKEM will co-host an interdisciplinary seminar on water management and related regulatory and social policy issues with the Water and Environmental Studies Research Institute at the University of Alicante (IUACA, Spain) and the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon (ICS, Portugal). The three institutes will present their current state of research and exchange ideas on new approaches to manage water and the climate crisis.
