Abstract

The 40-page magazine offers a compact overview of IKEM’s activities over the past year. In addition to information on research projects, events and financials, the report includes an interesting interview with managing directors Simon Schäfer-Stradowsky and Susan Wilms and provides insight into the work of IKEM’s five interdisciplinary teams.

In the past year, the Institute’s 72 researchers examined various aspects of the energy transition as participants in more than 87 projects. The topics were diverse and ranged from cross-border electromobility in Europe and the marketing of green electricity in Berlin and Brandenburg to the connections and interdependencies between quality of life, health and climate protection, which we are researching in the newly founded One Health Research Centre.

Most of the funding for IKEM’s research came from project funds, national and European funding programmes (52.9%), and public (21.2%) and private contracts (20.4%). Annual turnover rose to around €3.64 million in 2021.
