IKEM is examining the legal feasibility of fiscal instruments to promote synthetic fuel for aviation.
As airplanes are currently difficult to electrify, an alternative to fossil fuels is needed to make aviation more climate-friendly. In the future, PtL kerosene (power-to-liquid kerosene), a synthetically produced fuel made from renewable electricity, hydrogen and CO₂, could be utilized here.
On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), INFRAS and the Öko-Institut are investigating various fiscal instruments to promote PtL kerosene. IKEM is supporting this project as a subcontractor by carrying out a legal review. Selected funding instruments are examined with regard to their compatibility and synergy with German law, while at the same time ensuring compatibility at European level.
