Investment needs for a sustainable transport system

Preparation and evaluation of traffic infrastructure data with the help of geoinformation systems

Projekt

In the project “Catching Up on Investment Needs for Sustainable Transport Systemin the Future” the German Institute for Urban Affairs is investigating the scope and structural condition of the municipal transport network in Germany. It will also identify future investment needs for a sustainable transportation system.

In order to achieve the project’s objective, it is necessary to examine the current traffic infrastructure, while taking into account the size of the road system, as well as the responsibilities of municipal road authorities. IKEM carries out the necessary data processing with the help of geoinformation systems.
