The federal government passed the Federal Climate Protection Act at the end of 2019. Germany has thus become the first country in the world to make its national climate protection target binding. This piece of law is the starting point for this handbook, edited by IKEM Director Prof. Dr. Michael Rodi. It provides an overview of this newly established and extensive area of law. The work is conceived as a new standard handbook for academics and practitioners: while it offers answers to practically relevant questions in an interdisciplinary and international legal field, it also points out legal policy solutions for the further development of climate protection law.
