IKEM analyzes options for the financial participation of municipalities affected by wind turbines – an important strategy for achieving more acceptance on-site.

Windräder

Project

The expansion of wind power and, more precisely, public acceptance of onshore wind turbines (WTGs) is a major cause for concern in the expansion of renewable energies in Germany. This is one of the reasons why many wind energy projects have come to a standstill. In order to increase local acceptance towards wind energy plants, it was agreed in the coalition agreement of the 19th legislative period to introduce a nationwide regulation for the financial participation of affected municipalities.

Together with its project partners, IKEM was commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology to investigate options for financial participation of affected municipalities (special levies, levies on external areas, etc.) and to develop proposals for the legal implementation of these instruments.
