Certain weather conditions can lead to an oversupply of energy from solar and wind power plants. To ensure the success of the energy transition, it is essential to find solutions that make use of this energy – among other things, by means of sector coupling. However, there are currently numerous legal obstacles in the way of widespread use of these solutions.

The aim of the study was therefore to develop experimental clauses for improved framework conditions for sector coupling. To this end, the identified existing barriers to sector coupling in the current legal framework and developed three proposals for the design of experimental clauses.
