A hydrogen economy cannot function without a suitable transport infrastructure. However, it is still unclear which transport solution is best used where and to what extent. TransHyDE is therefore advancing four transport technologies in demonstration projects: (1) hydrogen transport in high-pressure containers, (2) transport of liquid hydrogen, (3) hydrogen transport in existing and new gas infrastructure and (4) transport of hydrogen bound in ammonia or LOHC. In addition, TransHyDE’s five scientific subprojects will create the foundations for a systemic framework for hydrogen transport. The scientific projects deal with (1) the creation of a roadmap of what a comprehensive hydrogen infrastructure could look like in the future, (2) the development of possible standards, norms and safety regulations for hydrogen transport technologies, (3) the safety of hydrogen transport Technologies (materials, materials and sensors), (4) the efficient solution of hydrogen from ammonia and (5) the filling of containers with liquid hydrogen (cryogenic).

IKEM will calculate various climate scenarios for green ammonia, which will be used to analyze the logistics concepts. It also examines the legal framework for ammonia transport solutions and technologies developed in the CAMPFIRE project. IKEM’s research also covers questions on acceptance regarding the production and use of green ammonia. The causes of problems and obstacles are identified and addressed by developing an innovative communication concept.
