IKEM examines the legal framework for automated minibuses and their integration into public transport.
There are already a large number of demonstration projects with automated shuttles for local public transport. However, these shuttles travel too slow to provide an attractive local public transport service. The ABSOLUT project examines which vehicle and infrastructure technologies are necessary to fully integrate automated minibuses into public transportation in suburban areas.
As a subcontractor of Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe, IKEM supports the ABSOLUT project with research on selected legal issues surrounding the use of motor vehicles with autonomous driving functions in public transport.
