Senior Research Associate

Dr. Kathleen Pauleweit is a Senior Research Associate in the departments of Climate and Innovation and Energy Law with a research focus on participation, public participation in the energy transition and climate good governance. She also serves as IKEM’s Gender Equality Officer. She studied environmental law at the University of Kassel and completed her master’s degree in 2017 as the best in her class. After her studies, she specialised in her DBU-funded PhD in international climate change law. During her master studies and PhD, she completed practical research stays at the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bonn, the UNECE Secretariat of the Aarhus Convention & PRTR Protocol in Geneva. In addition to her master’s degree, she worked as a research assistant at the Department of Public Law with a focus on environmental and technology law and as a tutor for renewable energies and climate adaptation strategies at the International Summer/Winter University (ISU/IWU). She previously studied Comparative and European Law at the Hanse Law School in Bremen and Port Elizabeth (South Africa) with an internship in Brussels.
