Prof. Dr. Joachim Müller-Kirchenbauer is head of the Department of Energy and Resource Management, Institute of Technology and Management, at the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Technical University of Berlin. Prior to that, he founded the Chair of Gas Supply Systems at the Faculty of Energy and Economics at Clausthal University of Technology.
In previous professional positions, he worked as a consultant and associate at Consentec, as an expert and partner at BET “Büro für Energiewirtschaft und technische Planung”, for municipal utilities, energy trading companies, electricity and gas network operators of all levels, German and European regulatory authorities, as well as ministries and the EU Commission. At the German Federal Grid Agency, he was head of several units in the development staff and deputy head of department for energy regulation.
His current teaching and research interests are in industrial engineering with a specialization in energy and resources, and in energy system analysis with a focus on hydrogen connectivity. Furthermore, Prof. Müller-Kirchenbauer is head of the study program Energy Management (MBA) and the Joint Commission TU-Campus EUREF of the TU Berlin. Prof. Müller-Kirchenbauer studied mechanical engineering, energy and process engineering as well as economics in Munich, Berlin and Aachen.
