Dr. Jana Karras specializes in German and Ukrainian law, international climate policy and climate finance. With extensive experience in international research and consulting projects, she specializes in developing and supervising capacity building and knowledge exchange activities. Her professional focus is on the evaluation and development of legal and financing options in the context of the energy transition.

Her contribution aims to strengthen governance structures, regulatory frameworks and market mechanisms in the field of energy, sustainability and climate protection in Ukraine. Dr. Jana Karras has made a significant contribution to the heat transition work package of the Ariadne project. In this context, she has worked intensively on research into targeted instruments for a socially and climate-neutrally oriented heat transition in the building sector. By collaborating with various stakeholders from the real estate industry, politics and society, she has developed effective strategies that drive the transition to sustainable heat sources and the refurbishment of buildings.

Dr. Karras has also been involved in numerous energy transition and climate adaptation projects in various regions, including Central Asia, Eastern and Southern Europe.
