Aleksandra Novikova, PhD, has been working on energy and climate policy since 1999. She focuses on the financing of energy transition and climate actions, the evaluation of energy efficiency and climate mitigation policies, and the modeling of energy systems and infrastructure at regional/country/global level. She has conducted research, capacity building, evaluation, and/or training projects for the European Commission, the UNDP, ClimateWorks, Climate Policy Initiative, the EBRD, the World Bank, the GCF, some governments in Europe, America, and Asia, as well as other national and international organizations.

Aleksandra holds a master and doctor of philosophy in environmental sciences and policy from Central European University (CEU, Hungary) and a specialist in mathematical methods and models in economics from the Novosibirsk State University (Russia). She also was a research scholar at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California. Aleksandra has authored and/or co-authored more than sixty publication. Among them, she is a lead author of the 4th (2007) and the forthcoming 6th (2021) IPCC Assessment Report. IPCC is an Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change; it was awarded the Nobel-prize for Peace in 2007.

Aleksandra is currently leading the Energy Efficiency and Climate Finance department at IKEM. She is a guest professor at CEU teaching energy and climate courses and supervising master and doctoral students.
