On June 18, 2019, the European Commission published a communication assessing the draft National Energy Climate Plans (NECPS) of all Member States, along with specific recommendations and a detailed “Commission Staff Working Paper” for each Member State. Following these recommendations, Member States will have to submit their final NECPs by the end of 2019. An important part of the NECPs is an assessment of the investment needs for the energy transition, the current investments and the analysis of funding sources to bridge the gap between the investment needs and the current volume.
The 16th meeting of the Technical Working Group on the NECPs took place on July 3, 2019 in Brussels. Dr. Aleksandra Novikova contributed to this meeting and presented the experiences from Germany, the Czech Republic and Latvia with regard to their analysis of the financing of the energy transition.
